Ptujska Klet Pullus Pinot Noir

$14.00

Overview

The producer of the Pullus line, Ptujska Klet is the oldest winery in Slovenia - its cellars dating to 1239 lie labyrinthine beneath the streets of the city of Ptuj. Its famous wine archive contains the best vintages of the 20th century, including all vintages since 1946. Since Slovenian independence in 1991, the winery has adopted the modern practices of international winemaking, and now produces premium varietal wines and blends from grapes that are hand-harvested from the terraced vineyards around Ptuj. A diverse geological soil composition, consisting mainly of gravel and clay, with the lower layers usually covered by a layer of marl. The steep-sloped vineyards are spread out over the finest winegrowing sites on the hills in the area of Ptuj.

Spot-on varietal aromas filled with purple flowers, dried cherry, overripe wild strawberries, and mulberry. The nose is purely fruited with a pleasing touch of spiciness. The influence of the oak barrel is elegantly integrated and does not overpower the delicate Pinot Noir. The palate evokes the juicy red fruited aromas, highlighted by a hint of forest floor (earth, pine, dried leaves), leading to a soft & fleshy finish. Throw a little chill on this, it’s the perfect warmer weather red.
