Before joining his family as 3rd generation winemaker, Guillaume travelled the world working in some of the most famous wineries in Bordeaux, Burgundy, The Napa Valley, New Zealand and finally in Australia where he met his future wife. In 2006, Guillaume took over the winemaking at his family's Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate in 2006.
In 2015, The Gonnets purchased their own small plots in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Guillaume and Kelly plan to grow their range of wines to include old vine Southern Rhone varieties in Spain and Kelly's home in the Barossa in Australia.
The 2024 is equal parts Grenache & Cinsault with an average vine age of 30-35 years old, grown in terraced vineyards in light clay & sandy soils. The wine was vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged for six months before release. It is juicy & pure with a highly expressive & complex nose of white flowers, wild strawberries, watermelon, stone fruits, citrus & green herbs. The palate is medium in body, showing fleshy summer melon, red berries & citrus zest with bright acidity and stony minerality in the mouth. There is a lovely saltiness at the end of the lengthy & pure finish.
