Castello di Tassorola Orsola Gavi

Overview

I can trace my family history back a couple generations before things start getting a little murky. The Spinola family, however, can be traced back to their start in the middle of Piedmont in 250AD. They have been making wine there since 1367! Castello di Tassarolo is run today by Massimiliana Spinola and Henry Finzi-Constantine. They make this refreshing Cortese with methods that are organic and dynamic from all estate-owned vineyards. The label is one of two portraits by Andy Warhol of another Spinola family member, Orsola, for whom the wine is named.

Gavi, made from the light-skinned Cortese grape, is becoming hugely popular lately. Everyone who tastes Gavi seems to love it; it's a can't-miss wine for anyone looking for something new in a white.  Straw yellow color with green highlights, intense floral nose of orange blossom and camomille. Fresh, fragrant, light, lively and persistent – It is intensely bright, juicy and refreshing with engaging aromatics, honeyed flowers, orange citrus, and a touch of almond. Finishing bone dry, this is an incredibly food friendly Gavi.
