Overview

In 1985 Laurent Mazeau began the work of renovating his family’s extensive vineyard holdings in Southern Bordeaux.  Plantings stretch out over 137 hectares over six châteaux, and Laurent’s goal is to offer consumers unbeatable values in Bordeaux.  Farming is sustainable.

Château de Costis is located in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, in the township of Targon.  Half of the vineyard was part of the original family estate and the second half was purchased in 1972. Soil composition is a combination of clay, limestone & gravel. Slopes are 60% southern hills, 10% northern hills, and 30% plateau.  Reds are 40% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The nose is perfumed with beautiful red berries, violet, cedar & warm spices. The palate is juicy & pure with black cherry, black plum, currant, cola, cedar & baking spice. It is medium-to-full in body, the fleshy finish has a long dash of grippy tannins. This is an amazing Bordeaux that way over-delivers for its price.
