Les Ligeriens Rose d'Anjou

Overview

The winemakers employ the "saignée" method for crafting this rosé. In this technique, a small portion of red grape juice is "bled" off early in the fermentation process, resulting in a pale pink color and a focus on fresh fruit flavors. The grapes used for Les Ligériens Rosé d'Anjou come from vines averaging 40 years old, contributing to the wine's complexity and concentration.

Les Ligériens Rosé d'Anjou is a blend of Gamay (65%), Grolleau Noir (25%), and Cabernet Franc (10%). Gamay, known for its bright acidity and red fruit character, forms the backbone of this wine. Grolleau Noir adds depth and structure, while Cabernet Franc contributes subtle hints of herbal notes.

On the nose, a fresh bouquet of red fruits unfolds, with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and red currant taking center stage. Hints of floral notes add a touch of richness, while subtle stoney minerality hints at the wine's Loire Valley origins. The first sip reveals a burst of juicy, fresh acidity, perfectly balanced by the wine's natural sweetness of the fruit. The red fruit flavors from the nose carry beautifully onto the palate, offering a juicy and vibrant character. The wine is light-bodied and easy-drinking, with a lingering after taste of red berries and citrus.
