Fabrizio Vella Rosso

Overview

The Fabrizio Vella wines are a line of natural wines produced by Cantine Rallo in western Sicily and on the small island of Pantelleria, Cantina Rallo is one of the most progressive organic wine producers in southern Italy, spanning over 120 hectares and has been producing wine since the 1860s. All of their vineyards and farmland were certified organic by 2010, though many have been farmed organically for much longer. In addition to their organic vineyards there are pine forests, olive groves, wheat fields and blackberries all cultivated organically and with biodiversity in mind. The Fabrizio Vella wines come from vineyards that are farmed with biodynamic philosophies. These wines come from young vines planted on sandy soils in the rolling hills of Marsala.

Vineyards located in Patti Piccolo at 250-300 meters above sea level on sandy soils. Harvest is by hand. Grapes are crushed into stainless steel for natural fermentation on skins for 8-10 days. The wine is then pressed off into stainless steel and giant, old wood casks. Boasts a killer nose of spicy, brambly wild raspberry, dark cherry & earth, it’s pure, clean & just delicious. It’s not too heavy, but certainly not light.  It is medium-bodied, fresh & easy to drink, with juicy acidity & low tannin. Made from the younger vines, this 100% Nero d’Avola delivers an incredible assortment of aromas and flavors for not a lot of money.
