Robert Oatley G18 Grenache

Overview

The Robert Oatley wine collection is backed by fifty years of winemaking history from one of the most successful Australian wine families. Named after the family patriarch, Robert Oatley Wines is a multi-generational passion. The family owns vineyards, and sources from long-term grower partners, across Australia’s key regions – with a prime focus on Margaret River in Western Australia and McLaren Vale in South Australia.

From McLaren Vale in South Australia, the bright notes and rich flavors of both Grenache and Syrah are indisputable. The Oatleys were the first Australian winemakers to use the term ‘GSM’ for their classic Rhone blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre. They have a long history of working with the best of McLaren Vale fruit, with particular focus on Blewitt Springs, the Willunga area of southern McLaren Vale.

Vibrant, perfumed Grenache with classic raspberry, musk and earthy notes. An array of wild raspberries and fresh, rose-like flowers make for an attractive nose. The palate has a very supple and soft, fleshy feel with candied raspberries in abundance. This is an unwooded red wine, similar in weight and body to a young Pinot Noir, Tempranillo or Sangiovese. It should be enjoyed at least lightly chilled, which will allow its lifted aromatics and bright, breezy personality to shine.
