The Perrachon family settled in Juliénas in 1601 and established the estate of Laurent Perrachon & Fils in 1877. Laurent Perrachon (the 7th generation) has now taken over the day to day running of this fabulous estate from his father, the masterly Jacques Perrachon. Like his father, Laurent is one of Beaujolais’ most fastidious wine-makers and the range of individual ‘lieu-dit’ sites owned by the family produce wines with that little bit of extra ‘dimension’.
Their Julienas is a blend of different parcels with vines grown mainly on blue granite (Roche Bleu). This traditionally styled Cru Beaujolais displays a rich bouquet of cherries, berries and spices - is well structured, medium bodied, bright and fresh with a beam of cherry and raspberry flavors that picks up a touch of earthiness as it opens. Finishes with hints of spices as well as an abundance of cherry, succulent raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry fruit.
