Overview

Château Saint-Roch Côtes Du Rhône Rouge is from vineyards just outside the Lirac appellation on the western hillsides of the fault of Roquemaure. They are protected from the prevailing wind by the hills of Saint Géniès, and they benefit from the moderating influence of the Rhône river close by.

The vines are located on two different types of soils: - Some stony sandy-clay soils in a way similar to the ones fond in Châteauneuf du Pape, which provide wines with structure and complexity; - Some sandy filtering soils, on the slopes at the back of the Mount Génies, perfect for white, rosé and lighter style reds, giving some finesse and supple tannins. Age of the vines: 20-60 years,

Fragrant and bright red and black berries on the nose with a splash of leather, violet & spices. There is a rush of baked blackberry & plums with hint of white pepper. The palate starts softly, it is juicy, comes with a textured generosity. This is round, fleshy, dense Côtes du Rhône - the finish takes on a little extra depth from its tannins. It is a perfect expression of its terroir: tasty and fleshy, with a lovely freshness and an elegant finish. This a beautifully made Côtes du Rhône - showing the polish & complexity of wines twice its price.
