Overview

Domaine Paul Cherrier is in the tiny village of Verdigny, just north of Sancerre. The limestone soil allows this wine crispy mineral and lemon flavors. It's a true classic, without too much bite and a lovely texture.  Acidity, intensity and flinty power are displayed here, but all within reason and balance.  Bruised pear, yellow apple, gardenia, pink grapefruit, Meyer lemon, and precise minerality from 6 months in tank.  Stephane Cherrier is a rockstar in Sancerre that many locals have been keeping tabs on, as he seems to be rising to levels of the classics.

Located in the eastern Loire Valley, Sancerre is Sauvignon Blanc country. White Sancerre, or Sancerre Blanc, tends to be sleek and crisp, with citrus, mineral and herbal aromatics and a good backbone of acidity. The soils in and around the village of Verdigny consist of a mixture of marl and gravel called ‘Les Caillotes’ that produces elegant, well-balanced wines with a good fruit character.
