The young and juicy 2017 Tonel 22 Malbec was fermented in concrete, and one-third of the wine matured in neutral oak barrels for six to eight months. It has ripeness and fruit-driven aromas and flavors but with very good acidity and freshness, which is a constant in the house. Huckleberries, dusted cocoa powder, hints of campfire, and black cherries. For the price, this could be your “Go to Malbec.” It’s medium bodied and drinking nicely now.
