As many of you know, 2020 was a tough vintage for our friends in Oregon & California. Because of the fires, some of the wineries will have a very small production, or none at all.
Patricia Green Cellars made the tough decision to declassify their single vineyard juice and they’re putting most of it in this bottle of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. "This wine is the best we could do with what we had left from our Estate Vineyard, Freedom Hill Vineyard, Ridgecrest Vineyard, Risdall Ranch/Shafer Vineyard and Wind Ridge Vineyard. High pedigree fruit that was destined to make some legendary wine as the 2020 vintage was absolutely stellar". The label is a photo of the old jukebox at Lumpy's Tavern in Dundee, lovingly refered to as "Dollar Bills Only".
I tasted this bottle & it is really, really good - especially given the price point. A beautiful garnet color, aromas of ripe cherry, fleshy plum & a touch of spice. The palate is juicy & pure, full of rich cherry & wild berry fruit. Find me another Willamette Valley Pinot Noir better than this for $15 & I will buy you a taco.
