Overview

In 1985 Laurent Mazeau began the work of renovating his family’s extensive vineyard holdings in Southern Bordeaux.  Plantings stretch out over 137 hectares over six châteaux, and Laurent’s goal is to offer consumers unbeatable values in Bordeaux.  Farming is sustainable.

Château de Costis is located in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, in the township of Targon.  Half of the vineyard was part of the original family estate and the second half was purchased in 1972. Soil composition is a combination of clay, limestone & gravel. Slopes are 60% southern hills, 10% northern hills, and 30% plateau.

The nose is bright & intense with beautiful white flowers, stone fruit & citrus. The palate is sleek & juicy with summer melon, white peach, nectarine & pithy citrus. It is medium in body, bone dry & refreshing with zippy acidity & saline mineral notes on the finish. The 2020 is a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc & 30% Semillon - it is a heck of a wine for not a lot of money. It is also in the cooler, cold & ready to crack open.
